15For thus says the (A)high and exalted One
Who (B)lives forever, whose name is Holy,
"I (C)dwell on a high and holy place,
And also with the (D)contrite and lowly of spirit
In order to (E)revive the spirit of the lowly
And to revive the heart of the contrite.
1The first account I composed, (A)Theophilus, about all that Jesus (B)began to do and teach,2until the day when He (C)was taken up to heaven, after He (D)had by the Holy Spirit given orders to (E)the apostles whom He had (F)chosen. 3To these (G)He also presented Himself alive after His suffering, by many convincing proofs, appearing to them over a period of forty days and speaking of (H)the things concerning the kingdom of God. 4Gathering them together, He commanded them (I)not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for (J)what the Father had promised, "Which," He said, "you heard of from Me; 5for (K)John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit (L)not many days from now." 6So when they had come together, they were asking Him, saying, "Lord, (M)is it at this time You are restoring the kingdom to Israel?" 7He said to them, "It is not for you to know times or epochs which (N)the Father has fixed by His own authority; 8but you will receive power (O)when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be (P)My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and (Q)Samaria, and even to (R)the remotest part of the earth."
9And after He had said these things, (S)He was lifted up while they were looking on, and a cloud received Him out of their sight.10And as they were gazing intently into the sky while He was going, behold, (T)two men in white clothing stood beside them. 11They also said, "(U)Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who (V)has been taken up from you into heaven, will (W)come in just the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven." 14Afterward (A)He appeared (B)to the eleven themselves as they were reclining at the table; and He reproached them for their (C)unbelief and hardness of heart, because they had not believed those who had seen Him after He had risen.15And He said to them, "(D)Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. 16"(E)He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned. 17"These signs will accompany those who have believed: (F)in My name they will cast out demons, they will (G)speak with new tongues; 18they will (H)pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will (I)lay hands on the sick, and they will recover." 19So then, when the Lord Jesus had (J)spoken to them, He (K)was received up into heaven and (L)sat down at the right hand of God. 20And they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them, and confirmed the word by the signs that followed.] [[a]And they promptly reported all these instructions to Peter and his companions. And after that, Jesus Himself sent out through them from east to west the sacred and imperishable proclamation of eternal salvation.] Footnotes:Mark 16:20 A few late mss and versions contain this paragraph, usually after v 8; a few have it at the end of ch
1O LORD, our Lord,
How majestic is Your name in all the earth,
Who have (A)displayed Your splendor above the heavens!
2(B)From the mouth of infants and nursing babes You have established (C)strength
Because of Your adversaries,
To make (D)the enemy and the revengeful cease.
3When I (E)consider (F)Your heavens, the work of Your fingers,
The (G)moon and the stars, which You have ordained;
4(H)What is man that You take thought of him,
And the son of man that You care for him?
5Yet You have made him a (I)little lower than God,
And (J)You crown him with (K)glory and majesty!
6You make him to (L)rule over the works of Your hands;
You have (M)put all things under his feet,
7All sheep and oxen,
And also the beasts of the field,
8The birds of the heavens and the fish of the sea,
Whatever passes through the paths of the seas.
9(N)O LORD, our Lord,
How majestic is Your name in all the earth!
1O LORD, who may abide (A)in Your tent?
Who may dwell on Your (B)holy hill?
2He who (C)walks with integrity, and works righteousness,
And (D)speaks truth in his heart.
3He (E)does not slander with his tongue,
Nor (F)does evil to his neighbor,
Nor (G)takes up a reproach against his friend;
4In whose eyes a reprobate is despised,
But who (H)honors those who fear the LORD;
He (I)swears to his own hurt and does not change;
5He (J)does not put out his money [a]at interest,
Nor (K)does he take a bribe against the innocent
(L)He who does these things will never be shaken.

You set a (D)crown of fine gold on his head.

You (E)gave it to him,
(F)Length of days forever and ever.

And through the lovingkindness of the Most High (L)he will not be shaken.
8Your hand will (M)find out all your enemies;
Your right hand will find out those who hate you.
9You will make them (N)as a fiery oven in the time of your anger;
The LORD will (O)swallow them up in His wrath,
And (P)fire will devour them.
10Their [c]offspring You will destroy from the earth,
And their [d](Q)descendants from among the sons of men.
11Though they (R)intended evil against You
And (S)devised a plot,
They will not succeed.
12For You will (T)make them turn their back;
You will aim (U)with Your bowstrings at their faces.
13Be exalted, O LORD, in Your strength;
We will (V)sing and praise Your power.
1O (A)clap your hands, all peoples;
(B)Shout to God with the voice of joy.
2For the LORD Most High is to be (C)feared,
A (D)great King over all the earth.

And nations under our feet.
4He chooses our (F)inheritance for us,
The (G)glory of Jacob whom He loves. Selah.

The LORD, with the (I)sound of a trumpet.

Sing praises (M)with a skillful psalm.

God sits on (O)His holy throne.

For the (R)shields of the earth belong to God;
He is (S)highly exalted.

The (B)world, and those who dwell in it.
2For He has (C)founded it upon the seas
And established it upon the rivers.
3Who may (D)ascend into the (E)hill of the LORD?
And who may stand in His holy (F)place?
4He who has (G)clean hands and a (H)pure heart,
Who has not (I)lifted up his soul to falsehood
And has not (J)sworn deceitfully.
5He shall receive a (K)blessing from the LORD
And (L)righteousness from the God of his salvation.

8Who is the King of glory?
The LORD (P)strong and mighty,
The LORD (Q)mighty in battle.
9Lift up your heads, O gates,
And lift them up, O [c]ancient doors,
That the King of (R)glory may come in!
10Who is this King of glory?
The LORD of (S)hosts,
He is the King of glory. Selah.
1Let (A)God arise, let His enemies be scattered,
And let those who hate Him flee before Him.
2As (B)smoke is driven away, so drive them away;

So let the (D)wicked perish before God.
3But let the (E)righteous be glad; let them exult before God;
Yes, let them rejoice with gladness.

8The (R)earth quaked;
The (S)heavens also dropped rain at the presence of God;
(T)Sinai itself quaked at the presence of God, the God of Israel.
9You (U)shed abroad a plentiful rain, O God;
You confirmed Your inheritance when it was parched.
10Your creatures settled in it;
You (V)provided in Your goodness for the poor, O God.

At the mountain which God has (AD)desired for His abode?
Surely (AE)the LORD will dwell there forever.
17The (AF)chariots of God are [d]myriads, (AG)thousands upon thousands;
