1The word of the LORD came to (A)Jonah the son of Amittai saying,
2"Arise, go to (B)Nineveh the great city and (C)cry against it, for their (D)wickedness has come up before Me." 3But Jonah rose up to flee to (E)Tarshish (F)from the presence of the LORD So he went down to (G)Joppa, found a ship which was going to Tarshish, paid the fare and went down into it to go with them to Tarshish from the presence of the LORD. 4The (H)LORD hurled a great wind on the sea and there was a great storm on the sea so that the ship was about to break up. 5Then the sailors became afraid and every man cried to (I)his god, and they (J)threw the cargo which was in the ship into the sea to lighten it for them. But Jonah had gone below into the hold of the ship, lain down and fallen sound asleep. 6So the captain approached him and said, "How is it that you are sleeping? Get up, (K)call on your god Perhaps your (L)god will be concerned about us so that we will not perish." 7Each man said to his mate, "Come, let us (M)cast lots so we may learn on whose account this calamity has struck us " So they cast lots and the (N)lot fell on Jonah. 8Then they said to him, "(O)Tell us, now! On whose account has this calamity struck us? What is your (P)occupation? And where do you come from? What is your country? From what people are you?" 9He said to them, "I am a (Q)Hebrew, and I (R)fear the LORD (S)God of heaven who (T)made the sea and the dry land." 10Then the men became extremely frightened and they said to him, "How could you do this?" For the men knew that he was (U)fleeing from the presence of the LORD, because he had told them. 11So they said to him, "What should we do to you that the sea may become calm for us?"--for the sea was becoming increasingly stormy. 12He said to them, "Pick me up and throw me into the sea. Then the sea will become calm for you, for I know that (V)on account of me this great storm has come upon you." 13However, the men rowed desperately to return to land but they could not, for the sea was becoming even stormier against them. 14Then they called on the (W)LORD and said, "We earnestly pray, O LORD, do not let us perish on account of this man's life and do not put innocent blood on us; for (X)You, O LORD, have done as You have pleased." 15So they picked up Jonah, threw him into the sea, and the sea (Y)stopped its raging. 16Then the men feared the LORD greatly, and they offered a sacrifice to the LORD and made (Z)vows. 17And the LORD appointed a great fish to swallow Jonah, and Jonah was in the (AA)stomach of the fish three days and three nights. And He who (B)formed you, O Israel,
"Do not (C)fear, for I have (D)redeemed you;
I have (E)called you by name; you are (F)Mine!
2"When you (G)pass through the waters, (H)I will be with you;
And through the rivers, they will not overflow you
When you (I)walk through the fire, you will not be scorched,
Nor will the flame burn you.
3"For (J)I am the LORD your God,
The Holy One of Israel, your (K)Savior;
I have given Egypt as your ransom,
(L)Cush and Seba in your place.
1Why are (A)the nations in an uproar
And the peoples (B)devising a vain thing?
2The (C)kings of the earth take their stand
And the rulers take counsel together
(D)Against the LORD and against His [a](E)Anointed, saying,
3"Let us (F)tear their fetters apart
And cast away their cords from us!"
4He who [b]sits in the heavens (G)laughs,
The Lord (H)scoffs at them.
5Then He will speak to them in His (I)anger
And (J)terrify them in His fury, saying,
6"But as for Me, I have installed (K)My King
Upon Zion, (L)My holy mountain."
7"I will surely tell of the decree of the LORD:
He said to Me, 'You are (M)My Son,
Today I have begotten You.
8'Ask of Me, and (N)I will surely give (O)the nations as Your inheritance,
And the very (P)ends of the earth as Your possession.
9'You shall [c](Q)break them with a rod of iron,
You shall (R)shatter them like earthenware.'"
10Now therefore, O kings, (S)show discernment;
Take warning, O [d]judges of the earth.
11Worship the LORD with (T)reverence
And rejoice with (U)trembling.
12Do homage to (V)the Son, that He not become angry, and you perish in the way,
For (W)His wrath may [e]soon be kindled
How blessed are all who (X)take refuge in Him!
1Behold, a (A)day is coming for the LORD when (B)the spoil taken from you will be divided among you.
2For I will (C)gather all the nations against Jerusalem to battle, and the city will be captured, the (D)houses plundered, the women ravished and half of the city exiled, but the rest of the people will not be cut off from the city. 3Then the LORD will go forth and (E)fight against those nations, as when He fights on a day of battle. 4In that day His feet will (F)stand on the Mount of Olives, which is in front of Jerusalem on the east; and the Mount of Olives will be (G)split in its middle from east to west by a very large valley, so that half of the mountain will move toward the north and the other half toward the south. 5You will flee by the valley of My mountains, for the valley of the mountains will reach to Azel; yes, you will flee just as you fled before the (H)earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah (I)Then the LORD, my God, will come, and all the holy ones with Him! 6In that day there will be (J)no light; the luminaries will dwindle. 7For it will be (K)a unique day which is (L)known to the LORD, neither day nor night, but it will come about that at (M)evening time there will be light. 8And in that day (N)living waters will flow out of Jerusalem, half of them toward the eastern sea and the other half toward the western sea; it will be in summer as well as in winter.9And the LORD will be (O)king over all the earth; in that day the LORD will be the only (P)one, and His name the only one.
10All the land will be changed into a plain from (Q)Geba to (R)Rimmon south of Jerusalem; but Jerusalem will (S)rise and (T)remain on its site from (U)Benjamin's Gate as far as the place of the First Gate to the (V)Corner Gate, and from the (W)Tower of Hananel to the king's wine presses. 11People will live in it, and there will (X)no longer be a curse, for Jerusalem will (Y)dwell in security. 12Now this will be the plague with which the LORD will strike all the peoples who have gone to war against Jerusalem; their flesh will (Z)rot while they stand on their feet, and their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongue will rot in their mouth. 13It will come about in that day that a great panic from the LORD will fall on them; and they will (AA)seize one another's hand, and the hand of one will be lifted against the hand of another. 14(AB)Judah also will fight at Jerusalem; and the (AC)wealth of all the surrounding nations will be gathered, gold and silver and garments in great abundance. 15So also like this (AD)plague will be the plague on the horse, the mule, the camel, the donkey and all the cattle that will be in those camps. 16Then it will come about that any who are left of all the nations that went against Jerusalem will (AE)go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to celebrate the (AF)Feast of Booths. 17And it will be that whichever of the families of the earth does not go up to Jerusalem to worship the (AG)King, the LORD of hosts, there will be (AH)no rain on them. 18If the family of Egypt does not go up or enter, then no rain will fall on them; it will be the (AI)plague with which the LORD smites the nations who do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Booths. 19This will be the punishment of Egypt, and the punishment of all the nations who do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Booths. 20In that day there will be inscribed on the bells of the horses, "(AJ)HOLY TO THE LORD " And the (AK)cooking pots in the LORD'S house will be like the bowls before the altar. 21Every cooking pot in Jerusalem and in Judah will be (AL)holy to the LORD of hosts; and all who sacrifice will come and take of them and boil in them And there will no longer be a (AM)Canaanite in the house of the LORD of hosts in that day.
