1Ask (A)rain from the LORD at the time of the spring rain--
The LORD who (B)makes the storm clouds;
And He will give them (C)showers of rain, vegetation in the field to each man.
2For the (D)teraphim speak iniquity,
And the (E)diviners see lying visions
And tell (F)false dreams;
They comfort in vain
Therefore the people wander like (G)sheep,
They are afflicted, because there is no shepherd.
3"My (H)anger is kindled against the shepherds,
And I will punish the male goats;
For the LORD of hosts has (I)visited His flock, the house of Judah,
And will make them like His majestic horse in battle.
4"From them will come the (J)cornerstone,
From them the tent peg,
From them the bow of (K)battle,
From them every ruler, all of them together.
5"They will be as mighty men,
(L)Treading down the enemy in the mire of the streets in battle;
And they will fight, for the LORD will be with them;
And the (M)riders on horses will be put to shame.
6"I will (N)strengthen the house of Judah,
And I will (O)save the house of Joseph,
And I will (P)bring them back,
Because I have had (Q)compassion on them;
And they will be as though I had (R)not rejected them,
For I am the LORD their God and I will (S)answer them.
7"Ephraim will be like a mighty man,
And their heart will be glad as if from wine;
Indeed, their (T)children will see it and be glad,
Their heart will rejoice in the LORD.
8"I will (U)whistle for them to gather them together,
For I have redeemed them;
And they will be as (V)numerous as they (W)were before.
9"When I scatter them among the peoples,
They will (X)remember Me in far countries,
And they with their children will live and come back.
10"I will (Y)bring them back from the land of Egypt
And gather them from Assyria;
And I will bring them into the land of (Z)Gilead and Lebanon
Until (AA)no room can be found for them.
11"And they will pass through the (AB)sea of distress
And He will strike the waves in the sea,
So that all the depths of the (AC)Nile will dry up;
And the pride of (AD)Assyria will be brought down
And the scepter of (AE)Egypt will depart.
12"And I will (AF)strengthen them in the LORD,
And in His name (AG)they will walk," declares the LORD.
1Open your doors, O Lebanon,
That a (AH)fire may feed on your (AI)cedars.
2Wail, O cypress, for the cedar has fallen,
Because the glorious trees have been destroyed;
Wail, O oaks of Bashan,
For the impenetrable forest has come down.
3There is a sound of the shepherds' (AJ)wail,
For their glory is ruined;
There is a (AK)sound of the young lions' roar,
For the pride of the Jordan is ruined.
1But realize this, that (A)in the last days difficult times will come.2For men will be (B)lovers of self, (C)lovers of money, (D)boastful, (E)arrogant, (F)revilers, (G)disobedient to parents, (H)ungrateful, (I)unholy, 3(J)unloving, irreconcilable, (K)malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, (L)haters of good, 4(M)treacherous, (N)reckless, (O)conceited, (P)lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5holding to a form of (Q)godliness, although they have (R)denied its power; (S)Avoid such men as these. 6For among them are those who (T)enter into households and captivate (U)weak women weighed down with sins, led on by (V)various impulses, 7always learning and never able to (W)come to the knowledge of the truth. 8Just as (X)Jannes and Jambres (Y)opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, (Z)men of depraved mind, rejected in regard to the faith. 9But they will not make further progress; for their (AA)folly will be obvious to all, just (AB)as Jannes's and Jambres's folly was also. 10Now you (AC)followed my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, patience, (AD)love, perseverance, 11(AE)persecutions, and (AF)sufferings, such as happened to me at (AG)Antioch, at (AH)Iconium and at (AI)Lystra; what (AJ)persecutions I endured, and out of them all (AK)the Lord rescued me! 12Indeed, all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus (AL)will be persecuted. 13But evil men and impostors (AM)will proceed from bad to worse, (AN)deceiving and being deceived. 14You, however, (AO)continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of, knowing from whom you have learned them, 15and that (AP)from childhood you have known (AQ)the sacred writings which are able to (AR)give you the wisdom that leads to (AS)salvation through faith which is in (AT)Christ Jesus. 16(AU)All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; 17so that (AV)the man of God may be adequate, (AW)equipped for every good work.
