1Now (A)Naaman, captain of the army of the king of Aram, was a great man with his master, and highly respected, because by him the LORD had given victory to Aram. The man was also a valiant warrior, but he was a leper.2Now the Arameans had gone out (B)in bands and had taken captive a little girl from the land of Israel; and she waited on Naaman's wife. 3She said to her mistress, "I wish that my master were with the prophet who is in Samaria! Then he would cure him of his leprosy." 4Naaman went in and told his master, saying, "Thus and thus spoke the girl who is from the land of Israel." 5Then the king of Aram said, "Go now, and I will send a letter to the king of Israel." He departed and (C)took with him ten talents of silver and six thousand shekels of gold and ten (D)changes of clothes. 6He brought the letter to the king of Israel, saying, "And now as this letter comes to you, behold, I have sent Naaman my servant to you, that you may cure him of his leprosy." 7When the king of Israel read the letter, (E)he tore his clothes and said, "(F)Am I God, to kill and to make alive, that this man is sending word to me to cure a man of his leprosy? But (G)consider now, and see how he is seeking a quarrel against me." 8It happened when Elisha (H)the man of God heard that the king of Israel had torn his clothes, that he sent word to the king, saying, "Why have you torn your clothes? Now let him come to me, and he shall know that there is a prophet in Israel." 9So Naaman came with his horses and his chariots and stood at the doorway of the house of Elisha. 10Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, "(I)Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh will be restored to you and you will be clean." 11But Naaman was furious and went away and said, "Behold, I thought, 'He will surely come out to me and stand and call on the name of the LORD his God, and wave his hand over the place and cure the leper.' 12"Are not Abanah and Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? Could I not wash in them and be clean?" So he turned and (J)went away in a rage. 13(K)Then his servants came near and spoke to him and said, "(L)My father, had the prophet told you to do some great thing, would you not have done it? How much more then, when he says to you, 'Wash, and be clean'?" 14So he went down and dipped himself seven times in the Jordan, according to the word of the man of God; and (M)his flesh was restored like the flesh of a little child and (N)he was clean.
15When he returned to the man of God with all his company, and came and stood before him, he said, "Behold now, (O)I know that there is no God in all the earth, but in Israel; so please (P)take a present from your servant now."Cross references:2 Kings 5:1 : Luke 4:27 2 Kings 5:2 : 2 Kin 6:23; 13:20 2 Kings 5:5 : 1 Sam 9:7; 2 Kin 4:42 2 Kings 5:5 : Judg 14:12; 2 Kin 5:22, 23 2 Kings 5:7 : Gen 37:29 2 Kings 5:7 : Gen 30:2; 1 Sam 2:6 2 Kings 5:7 : 1 Kin 20:7; Luke 11:54 2 Kings 5:8 : 1 Kin 12:22 2 Kings 5:10 : John 9:7 2 Kings 5:12 : Prov 14:17; 16:32; 19:11 2 Kings 5:13 : 1 Sam 28:23 2 Kings 5:13 : 2 Kin 2:12; 6:21; 8:9 2 Kings 5:14 : 2 Kin 5:10; Job 33:25 2 Kings 5:14 : Luke 4:27; 5:13 2 Kings 5:15 : Josh 2:11; 1 Sam 17:46, 47; 2 Kin 5:8 2 Kings 5:15 : 1 Sam 25:27
1When Jesus came down from the mountain, large crowds followed Him.2And (A)a leper came to Him and (B)bowed down before Him, and said, "Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean." 3Jesus stretched out His hand and touched him, saying, "I am willing; be cleansed." And immediately his (C)leprosy was cleansed. 4And Jesus said to him, "(D)See that you tell no one; but (E)go, (F)show yourself to the priest and present the offering that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them." 5And (G)when Jesus entered Capernaum, a centurion came to Him, imploring Him, 6and saying, "Lord, my servant is lying (H)paralyzed at home, fearfully tormented." 7Jesus said to him, "I will come and heal him." 8But the centurion said, "Lord, I am not worthy for You to come under my roof, but just say the word, and my servant will be healed. 9"For I also am a man under (I)authority, with soldiers under me; and I say to this one, 'Go!' and he goes, and to another, 'Come!' and he comes, and to my slave, 'Do this!' and he does it." 10Now when Jesus heard this, He marveled and said to those who were following, "Truly I say to you, I have not found such great faith with anyone in Israel. 11"I say to you that many (J)will come from east and west, and [a]recline at the table with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven; 12but (K)the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into (L)the outer darkness; in that place (M)there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth." 13And Jesus said to the centurion, "Go; it shall be done for you (N)as you have believed." And the servant was healed that very moment. Footnotes:Matthew 8:11 Or dine
1O LORD, who may abide (A)in Your tent?
Who may dwell on Your (B)holy hill?
2He who (C)walks with integrity, and works righteousness,
And (D)speaks truth in his heart.
3He (E)does not slander with his tongue,
Nor (F)does evil to his neighbor,
Nor (G)takes up a reproach against his friend;
4In whose eyes a reprobate is despised,
But who (H)honors those who fear the LORD;
He (I)swears to his own hurt and does not change;
5He (J)does not put out his money [a]at interest,
Nor (K)does he take a bribe against the innocent
(L)He who does these things will never be shaken.
1Then (A)the angel who was speaking with me returned and (B)roused me, as a man who is awakened from his sleep.2He said to me, "(C)What do you see?" And I said, "I see, and behold, a (D)lampstand all of gold with its bowl on the top of it, and its (E)seven lamps on it with seven spouts belonging to each of the lamps which are on the top of it; 3also (F)two olive trees by it, one on the right side of the bowl and the other on its left side." 4Then I said to the angel who was speaking with me saying, "What are these, (G)my lord?" 5So (H)the angel who was speaking with me answered and said to me, "(I)Do you not know what these are?" And I said, "No, my lord." 6Then he said to me, "This is the word of the LORD to (J)Zerubbabel saying, '(K)Not by might nor by power, but by My (L)Spirit,' says the LORD of hosts. 7'What are you, O great (M)mountain? Before Zerubbabel you will become a plain; and he will bring forth the top stone with (N)shouts of "Grace, grace to it!"'" 8Also the word of the LORD came to me, saying, 9"The hands of Zerubbabel have (O)laid the foundation of this house, and his hands will (P)finish it. Then you will know that the LORD of hosts has sent me to you. 10"For who has despised the day of (Q)small things? But these (R)seven will be glad when they see the (S)plumb line in the hand of Zerubbabel--these are the (T)eyes of the LORD which (U)range to and fro throughout the earth." 11Then I said to him, "What are these (V)two olive trees on the right of the lampstand and on its left?" 12And I answered the second time and said to him, "What are the two olive branches which are beside the two golden pipes, which empty the golden oil from themselves?" 13So he answered me, saying, "(W)Do you not know what these are?" And I said, "No, (X)my lord." 14Then he said, "These are the two (Y)anointed ones who are (Z)standing by the (AA)Lord of the whole earth."
1Then I lifted up my eyes again and looked, and behold, there was a flying (AB)scroll.2And he said to me, "(AC)What do you see?" And I answered, "I see a flying scroll; its length is twenty cubits and its width ten cubits." 3Then he said to me, "This is the (AD)curse that is going forth over the face of the whole land; surely everyone who (AE)steals will be purged away according to the writing on one side, and everyone who (AF)swears will be purged away according to the writing on the other side. 4"I will (AG)make it go forth," declares the LORD of hosts, "and it will (AH)enter the house of the (AI)thief and the house of the one who swears falsely by My name; and it will spend the night within that house and (AJ)consume it with its timber and stones." 5Then (AK)the angel who was speaking with me went out and said to me, "Lift up now your eyes and see what this is going forth." 6I said, "What is it?" And he said, "This is the (AL)ephah going forth." Again he said, "This is their appearance in all the land 7(and behold, a lead cover was lifted up); and this is a woman sitting inside the ephah." 8Then he said, "This is (AM)Wickedness!" And he threw her down into the middle of the ephah and cast the lead weight on its opening. 9Then I lifted up my eyes and looked, and there two women were coming out with the wind in their wings; and they had wings like the wings of a (AN)stork, and they lifted up the ephah between the earth and the heavens. 10I said to the angel who was speaking with me, "Where are they taking the ephah?" 11Then he said to me, "To build a temple for her in the land of (AO)Shinar; and when it is prepared, she will be set there on her own pedestal."
