1Then He brought me back by the way of the (A)outer gate of the sanctuary, which faces the east; and it was shut.2The LORD said to me, "This gate shall be shut; it shall not be opened, and no one shall enter by it, for the (B)LORD God of Israel has entered by it; therefore it shall be shut. 3"As for the (C)prince, he shall sit in it as prince to (D)eat bread before the LORD; he shall (E)enter by way of the (F)porch of the gate and shall go out by the same way." 4Then He brought me by way of the (G)north gate to the front of the house; and I looked, and behold, the (H)glory of the LORD filled the house of the LORD, and I (I)fell on my face. 5The LORD said to me, "Son of man, (J)mark well, see with your eyes and hear with your ears all that I say to you concerning all the (K)statutes of the house of the LORD and concerning all its laws; and mark well the entrance of the house, with all exits of the sanctuary. 6"You shall say to the (L)rebellious ones, to the house of Israel, 'Thus says the Lord GOD, "(M)Enough of all your abominations, O house of Israel, 7when you brought in (N)foreigners, (O)uncircumcised in heart and uncircumcised in flesh, to be in My sanctuary to profane it, even My house, when you (P)offered My food, the fat and the blood; for they (Q)made My covenant void--this in addition to all your abominations. 8"And you have not (R)kept charge of My holy things yourselves, but you have set foreigners to keep charge of My sanctuary." 9'Thus says the Lord GOD, "(S)No foreigner uncircumcised in heart and uncircumcised in flesh, of all the foreigners who are among the sons of Israel, shall enter My sanctuary. 10"But the Levites who went far from Me when Israel went astray, who (T)went astray from Me after their idols, shall (U)bear the punishment for their iniquity. 11"Yet they shall be (V)ministers in My sanctuary, having (W)oversight at the gates of the house and (X)ministering in the house; they shall (Y)slaughter the burnt offering and the sacrifice for the people, and they shall (Z)stand before them to minister to them. 12"Because they ministered to them (AA)before their idols and became a (AB)stumbling block of iniquity to the house of Israel, therefore I have (AC)sworn against them," declares the Lord GOD, "that they shall (AD)bear the punishment for their iniquity. 13"And they shall (AE)not come near to Me to serve as a priest to Me, nor come near to any of My holy things, to the things that are most holy; but they will (AF)bear their shame and their abominations which they have committed. 14"Yet I will appoint them to (AG)keep charge of the house, of all its service and of all that shall be done in it.
15"But the (AH)Levitical priests, the sons of (AI)Zadok, who (AJ)kept charge of My sanctuary when the sons of Israel (AK)went astray from Me, shall come near to Me to minister to Me; and they shall (AL)stand before Me to offer Me the (AM)fat and the blood," declares the Lord GOD.16"They shall (AN)enter My sanctuary; they shall come near to My (AO)table to minister to Me and keep My charge. 1(A)I am telling the truth in Christ, I am not lying, my conscience testifies with me in the Holy Spirit,2that I have great sorrow and unceasing grief in my heart. 3For (B)I could wish that I myself were (C)accursed, separated from Christ for the sake of my brethren, my kinsmen (D)according to the flesh, 4who are (E)Israelites, to whom belongs (F)the adoption as sons, and (G)the glory and (H)the covenants and (I)the giving of the Law and (J)the temple service and (K)the promises, 5whose are (L)the fathers, and (M)from whom is the Christ according to the flesh, (N)who is over all, (O)God (P)blessed forever. Amen. 6But it is not as though (Q)the word of God has failed (R)For they are not all Israel who are descended from Israel; 7nor are they all children (S)because they are Abraham's descendants, but: "(T)THROUGH ISAAC YOUR DESCENDANTS WILL BE NAMED." 8That is, it is not the children of the flesh who are (U)children of God, but the (V)children of the promise are regarded as descendants. 9For this is the word of promise: "(W)AT THIS TIME I WILL COME, AND SARAH SHALL HAVE A SON." 10(X)And not only this, but there was (Y)Rebekah also, when she had conceived twins by one man, our father Isaac; 11for though the twins were not yet born and had not done anything good or bad, so that (Z)God's purpose according to His choice would stand, not because of works but because of Him who calls, 12it was said to her, "(AA)THE OLDER WILL SERVE THE YOUNGER." 13Just as it is written, "(AB)JACOB I LOVED, BUT ESAU I HATED." 14(AC)What shall we say then? (AD)There is no injustice with God, is there? (AE)May it never be! 15For He says to Moses, "(AF)I WILL HAVE MERCY ON WHOM I HAVE MERCY, AND I WILL HAVE COMPASSION ON WHOM I HAVE COMPASSION." 16So then it does not depend on the man who wills or the man who (AG)runs, but on (AH)God who has mercy. 17For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, "(AI)FOR THIS VERY PURPOSE I RAISED YOU UP, TO DEMONSTRATE MY POWER IN YOU, AND THAT MY NAME MIGHT BE PROCLAIMED THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE EARTH." 18So then He has mercy on whom He desires, and He (AJ)hardens whom He desires.
