First Reading: Ezek. 36:33-37:14
33'Thus says the Lord GOD, "On the day that I cleanse you from all your iniquities, I will cause the (A)
cities to be inhabited, and the (B)
waste places will be rebuilt.
34"The desolate land will be cultivated instead of being a desolation in the sight of everyone who passes by.
35"They will say, 'This desolate land has become like the (C)
garden of Eden; and the waste, desolate and ruined cities are fortified and inhabited.'
36"Then the nations that are left round about you will know that I, the LORD, have rebuilt the ruined places and planted that which was desolate; I, the LORD, have spoken and (D)
will do it."
37'Thus says the Lord GOD, "This also I will let the house of Israel ask Me to do for them: I will increase their men like a flock.
38"Like the (E)
flock for sacrifices, like the flock at Jerusalem during her appointed feasts, so will the waste cities be filled with (F)
flocks of men. Then they will know that I am the LORD."'"
Vision of the Valley of Dry Bones
hand of the LORD was upon me, and He (H)
brought me out by the Spirit of the LORD and set me down in the middle of the (I)
valley; and it was full of bones.
2He caused me to pass among them round about, and behold, there were very many on the surface of the valley; and lo, they were very dry.
3He said to me, "Son of man, (J)
can these bones live?" And I answered, "O Lord GOD, (K)
4Again He said to me, "(L)
Prophesy over these bones and say to them, 'O dry bones, (M)
hear the word of the LORD.'
5"Thus says the Lord GOD to these bones, 'Behold, I will cause [a](N)
breath to enter you that you may come to life.
6'I will put sinews on you, make flesh grow back on you, cover you with skin and put breath in you that you may come alive; and you will (O)
know that I am the LORD.'"
7So I prophesied (P)
as I was commanded; and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold, a rattling; and the bones came together, bone to its bone.
8And I looked, and behold, sinews were on them, and flesh grew and skin covered them; but there was no breath in them.
9Then He said to me, "Prophesy to the breath, prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath, 'Thus says the Lord GOD, "Come from the four winds, O breath, and (Q)
breathe on these slain, that they (R)
come to life."'"
10So I prophesied as He commanded me, and the (S)
breath came into them, and they came to life and stood on their feet, an (T)
exceedingly great army.
The Vision Explained
11Then He said to me, "Son of man, these bones are the (U)
whole house of Israel; behold, they say, 'Our (V)
bones are dried up and our hope has perished We are completely (W)
12"Therefore prophesy and say to them, 'Thus says the Lord GOD, "Behold, I will open your graves and (X)
cause you to come up out of your graves, My people; and I will bring you into the land of Israel.
13"Then you will know that I am the LORD, when I have opened your graves and caused you to come up out of your graves, My people.
14"I will (Y)
put My [b]
Spirit within you and you will come to life, and I will place you on your own land. Then you will know that I, the LORD, have spoken and done it," declares the LORD.'" Footnotes:

Results of Justification
1(A)Therefore, having been justified by faith, (B)we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
2through whom also we have (C)
obtained our introduction by faith into this grace (D)
in which we stand; and we exult in hope of the glory of God.
And not only this, but we also (F)
exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about (G)
proven character; and proven character, hope;
5and hope (J)
does not disappoint, because the love of God has been (K)
poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
6For while we were still (L)
at the right time (N)
Christ died for the ungodly.
7For one will hardly die for a righteous man; though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die.
8But God (O)
His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, (Q)
Christ died for us.
9Much more then, having now been justified (R)
by His blood, we shall be saved (S)
from the wrath of God through Him.
10For if while we were (T)
enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved (U)
by His life.
And not only this, but we also exult in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received (W)
12Therefore, just as through (X)
one man sin entered into the world, and (Y)
death through sin, and (Z)
so death spread to all men, because all sinned--
13for until the Law sin was in the world, but (AA)
sin is not imputed when there is no law.
14Nevertheless death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over those who had not sinned (AB)
in the likeness of the offense of Adam, who is a [a](AC)
type of Him who was to come.
15But the free gift is not like the transgression. For if by the transgression of (AD)
the one (AE)
the many died, much more did the grace of God and the gift by (AF)
the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abound to the many.
16The gift is not like that which came through the one who sinned; for on the one hand (AG)
the judgment arose from one transgression resulting in condemnation, but on the other hand the free gift arose from many transgressions resulting in justification.
17For if by the transgression of the one, death reigned (AH)
through the one, much more those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will (AI)
reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.
18So then as through (AJ)
one transgression there resulted condemnation to all men, even so through one (AK)
act of righteousness there resulted (AL)
justification of life to all men.
19For as through the one man's disobedience (AM)
the many (AN)
were made sinners, even so through (AO)
the obedience of the One (AP)
the many will be made righteous.
The Law came in so that the transgression would increase; but where sin increased, (AR)
grace abounded all the more,
21so that, as (AS)
sin reigned in death, even so (AT)
grace would reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Footnotes:
