1Then He said to me, "Son of man, (A)stand on your feet that I may speak with you!"2As He spoke to me the (B)Spirit entered me and set me on my feet; and I heard Him speaking to me. 3Then He said to me, "Son of man, I am sending you to the sons of Israel, to a rebellious people who have (C)rebelled against Me; (D)they and their fathers have transgressed against Me to this very day. 4"I am sending you to them who are (E)stubborn and obstinate children, and you shall say to them, 'Thus says the Lord GOD.' 5"As for them, (F)whether they listen or not--for they are a rebellious house--they will (G)know that a prophet has been among them. 6"And you, son of man, (H)neither fear them nor fear their words, though (I)thistles and thorns are with you and you sit on scorpions; neither fear their words nor be dismayed at their presence, for they are a rebellious house. 7"But you shall (J)speak My words to them (K)whether they listen or not, for they are rebellious. 8"Now you, son of man, listen to what I am speaking to you; do not be rebellious like that rebellious house. Open your mouth and (L)eat what I am giving you." 9Then I looked, and behold, a (M)hand was extended to me; and lo, a (N)scroll was in it. 10When He spread it out before me, it was written on the front and back, and written on it were lamentations, mourning and (O)woe.
1Then He said to me, "Son of man, eat what you find; (P)eat this scroll, and go, speak to the house of Israel."2So I (Q)opened my mouth, and He fed me this scroll. 3He said to me, "Son of man, feed your stomach and (R)fill your body with this scroll which I am giving you " Then I (S)ate it, and it was sweet as (T)honey in my mouth. 4Then He said to me, "Son of man, go to the house of Israel and speak with My words to them. 5"For (U)you are not being sent to a people of (V)unintelligible speech or difficult language, but to the house of Israel, 6nor to many peoples of unintelligible speech or difficult language, whose words you cannot understand. But I have sent you to them who should listen to you; 7yet the house of Israel will not be willing to listen to you, since they are (W)not willing to listen to Me. Surely the whole house of Israel is stubborn and obstinate. 8"Behold, I have made your face as hard as their faces and your forehead as hard as their foreheads. 9"Like emery harder than flint I have made your forehead. Do not be afraid of them or be dismayed before them, though they are a rebellious house." 10Moreover, He said to me, "Son of man, take into your heart all My (X)words which I will speak to you and listen closely. 11"Go to the exiles, to the sons of your people, and speak to them and tell them, whether they listen or not, 'Thus says the Lord GOD.'" 18For (A)the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who (B)suppress the truth in unrighteousness,19because (C)that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. 20For (D)since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, (E)being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. 21For even though they knew God, they did not [a]honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became (F)futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. 22(G)Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23and (H)exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and [b]crawling creatures. 24Therefore (I)God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be (J)dishonored among them. 25For they exchanged the truth of God for a (K)lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, (L)who is blessed forever. Amen. 26For this reason (M)God gave them over to (N)degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, 27and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, (O)men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error. 28And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, (P)God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper, 29being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are (Q)gossips, 30slanderers, (R)haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, (S)disobedient to parents, 31without understanding, untrustworthy, (T)unloving, unmerciful; 32and although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of (U)death, they not only do the same, but also (V)give hearty approval to those who practice them.
